BlueCD is a software product for the AS/400 software development community. BlueCD lets any developer distribute their AS/400 solutions on AS/400 CD-Rom.

The AS/400 CD-Rom drive finally provides a common media format that software developers can standardize on as a distribution media. Until now, developers had to purchase or have access to a wide variety of tape formats, some of which are very expensive. And the various tape format are expensive!

But, since the introduction of the RISC-based AS/400 series several years ago, every AS/400 can be counted on to have a CD-Rom drive. The problem has been that creating CD-Roms has been difficult and time consuming for many smaller developers without a lot of resources at their disposal.

BlueCD simplifies the job and makes distributing AS/400 on CD-Rom and affordable alternative for most developers. To create a CD-Rom, all the developer has to do is create an installable tape, load the tape in the tape drive and run the BlueCD utility. All of the needed installation objects will be created in a shared folder on the AS/400. From there, it is a simple matter to transfer these objects to a CD-R CD using a PC-based writable CD drive. Some minor changes may be required in installation programs but these are all detailed in the program documentation that is provided with the package.
