DSK MANAGER Recently Reported Problems

For each problem, we have indicated when it was reported, the nature of the problem, an error messages associated with the problem and how the problem was resolved. DSK MANAGER Problem Log


Problem Report Dated: 09/5/2000

Affected release level: 4.04

Problem Description:

When using the MSTSAV, INCSAV or PGMSAV commands, a customer reported that while the documentation indicates that 50 library names can be specified, the commands themselves only support 30 library names.
. Problem Resolution:
Changes were made to the affected commands and associated programs to expand the list of libraries to match the documentation. We have now developed a PTF for this situation. Customers who experience this problem should contact Kisco Information Systems to request PTF package DMPTF016.

Problem Description:

When running the Delete Old Objects feature with a Number of Days (DAYS) parameter of 700, the output shows no objects selected. Rerunning the function for 180 days shows objects on the list that are more than 700 days old.
. Problem Resolution:
We discovered a programming problem with this feature. When a Number of Days value larger than 365 is used, incorrect selection can occur. We have now developed a PTF for this problem. Customers who experience this problem should contact Kisco Information Systems to request PTF package DMPTF015.

Problem Description:

When using the Master Backup feature with a list of specific libraries to backup, the procedure fails with a CPF9899 error message.
. Problem Resolution:
We discovered a programming problem that happens when a specific list of libraries to process contains more than 30 library names. We have now developed a PTF for this problem. Customers who experience this problem should contact Kisco Information Systems to request PTF package DMPTF014.

Problem Description:

When running the Master or Incremental Backup, the tape status in the Tape Management feature was not getting properly updated when the backup operation completed.
. Problem Resolution:
We have now developed a PTF for this problem. Customers who experience this problem should contact Kisco Information Systems to request PTF package DMPTF013.

Problem Description:

When running either a Master Backup or an Incremental Backup and when specifying specific library names, an error condition comes up when a library name that is ten characters long is used.
. Problem Resolution:
We found a problem with the way library names are being parsed for these two commands.

We have now developed a PTF for this problem. Customers who experience this problem should contact Kisco Information Systems to request PTF package DMPTF012.

Problem Description:

While runing a "Delete Old Objects" run, a customer reported that it failed and issued error message CPF0006, "Errors in command".
. Problem Resolution:
We found that the Delete Old Objects routine had not been updated to allow for the *MODULE object type and this caused the indicated error.

We have now developed a PTF for this problem. Customers who experience this problem should contact Kisco Information Systems to request PTF package DMPTF011.

Problem Report Dated: 01/28/99

Problem Description:

While runing a Master Backup, a customer reported that when the backup was all done, it failed and issued error message CPF7306.
. Problem Resolution:
We discovered that this only happens when the user has some file objects in library QTEMP for the session running the backup. As a temporary measure, customers can either clear QTEMP before starting a Master Backup or just sign off/on before starting a Master Backup.

We have now developed a PTF for this problem. Customers who experience this problem should contact Kisco Information Systems to request PTF package DMPTF010.

Problem Report Dated: 04/08/96

Problem Description:

Customer trying multiple tape drive swapper reported an error issued at the start of the save. Error is CPF0006 - Matching Parenthesis Not Found
. Problem Resolution:
Traced the error to an error in DSK MANAGER. Affected program corrected and re-issued to customer who reported the problem.

Problem Report Dated: 03/22/96

Affected release levels: 3.04 and 3.05

Problem Description:

During off-line archive to tape, an error is issued when an attempt is made to delete a *FILE-PF and it has active LF's still on the system. Error message CPF3219 is issued by program SAVEOLDC.
. Problem Resolution:
Program was changed to check for this condition without failing. Customer will know that a problem has occurred when there are still objects located in the archive library upon completion of the transfer to tape.

Problem Report Dated:03/18/96

Problem Description:

While using the Delete Old Objects feature, a customer reported problems with loosing objects from system libraries that were subsequently needed.
. Problem Resolution:
Delete Old Objects feature was changed to ignore all system libraries.
