DSK MANAGER takes a new approach to the problem of maintaining backups. It recognizes the difference between the various object types on your system and allows you to create separate backups on independent schedules. Many installations just shut down production and save the entire system during off-shift hours. DSK MANAGER allows you to overlap production processing with your backup operations.

For most installations, data objects change on a daily basis while program objects change with less frequency. We've separated out the program objects into their own backup. Our automated Master/Incremental backup takes care of the data objects. You can run a Master data save on Monday followed by daily Incremental backups. Only those data objects that have changed will be saved.

DSK MANAGER includes an automated tape library. The current status of each tape in your library is kept on line for your review. The objects available for every backup can be reviewed and selectively or globally restored to disk. All DSK MANAGER backups are automatically logged and provision is made for logging user backups as well. The system can also perform search functions on all known backup sets to locate objects quickly. A retention period is assigned to each backup set. When a set expires, it can be automatically scratched.

With Release 5, DSK Manager now includes improved restore utilities for all backup sets created using the new release. When your system suffers a catastrophic disk loss or when you have to move to an off-site backup site, DSK Manager backups can be easily and quickly reloaded by simply reinstalling DSK Manager on your system and then loading your backup sets.

DSK Manager Release 5 also now includes online support for reviewing backups of files stored in the Shared Folder file system (QDLS) and in the Integrated File System (IFS). You can search these backup set for specific objects and restore them on an individual object basis. QDLS and IFS backups are also included in total recovery restore processing.
