DSK Manager Release 5 Updates:

New output report option added.

At the request of a customer, we have added an option to the Master and Incremental Data Backup processes. The new option lets you control the level of detail that appears on the output report. This new feature is now available via a product PTF. This PTF can only be installed on a Release 5.13 version of DSK Manager. The correction is available in PTF package DMPTF514. Installing all DSK Manager PTFs up to this point will be the same as installing the most recent version of the product. E-mail us and request the PTF package to obtain this update. Note: This PTF also includes the above new feature.

DSK Manager Save All option added.

Several customers have requested that we include a single command that they can use to save everything on their system at once. This has now been implemented via the DSK Manager Save All option. This new command performs a series of DSK Manager backups as follows:

  1. A Program Library Backup of all user libraries including a configuration save and a security save.
  2. A Program Library Backup of all IBM libraries (excluding QSYS, see the user's guide about saving QSYS).
  3. A Master Data Backup of all files from user libraries.
  4. A Document/Folder Backup to save all shared folder objects and all objects stored in the Integrated File System (IFS).
This new feature is now available via a product PTF. This PTF can only be installed on a Release 5.06 version of DSK Manager. The correction is available in PTF package DMPTF507. Installing all DSK Manager PTFs up to this point will be the same as installing the most recent version of the product. E-mail us and request the PTF package to obtain this update. Note: This PTF also includes the following new feature.
Variable tape density setting added.

With the advent of new tape drive features and media options, we have now updated DSK Manager to give the customer control over the default density setting used when tapes are initialized during a backup operation. The system ships with the default setting of "*CTGTYPE", but this can now be changed by the customer. Note: This PTF also includes the above new feature.

DSK Manager updated to allow multiple concurrent backup operations.

Based on a customer request, we have updated DSK Manager to permit running of multiple concurrent backups. If your installation has multiple tape drives, you can now overlap backups taken using DSK Manager. This new feature is now available via a product PTF. This PTF can only be installed on a Release 5.03 version of DSK Manager. The correction is available in PTF package DMPTF504. Installing all DSK Manager PTFs up to this point will be the same as installing the most recent version of the product. E-mail us and request the PTF package to obtain this update. Note: This PTF also includes some product corrections.
