iFileAudit Install / Release Upgrade Installation

Kisco Information Systems recommends that you print this web page and use it as a check list while installing your iFileAudit software upgrade from the CD that you have received. The CD includes the software plus the latest software documentation. The "Manuals" folder in the CD contains the latest documentation in PDF format.

If you are installing iFileAudit for the first time, you can skip directly to the Installation Instructions section below.

If you are upgrading from a Virtual CD Image File that you have downloaded from our website, then do not use this procedure. Use the procedure outlined at the download page using this link.

Before you start your upgrade we recommend that you review the amount of history currently on file for your iFileAudit registered files. The upgrade installation may take a very long time if you have a lot of files registered and if there is a lot of history on file for some or all of the files. If you have files with a lot of history, consider purging those files before you start the upgrade. Also, if you have archived history when purging, you should remove the archive file members to backup tape before you start the upgrade as they will also need to be copied during the upgrade. The archive file is named FAANZARC in the library named FILAUD. DO NOT REMOVE the archive file, just the members.

Special consideration: If you are upgrading to Release 3 or higher of iFileAudit and your current installed version is release level 2.27 or earlier, then read on. Starting with Release 3, iFileAudit software authorization codes are tied to the combination of serial number and partition number. If you have a single partition license and you are running your system in partition number 1, then there will be no affect from this change. However, if you are have an LPAR license for iFileAudit and you have the software installed in multiple partitions, contact Kisco Information Systems before you start the upgrade process to obtain new authorization codes for all partitions. This also applies to customers who have a single partition license, but have iFileAudit installed in a partition other than partition 1.

If you are using the Automatic Analysis feature in iFileAudit, make sure that you stop it (option #17 on the MASTER menu) before you start your upgrade. Use the WRKACTJOB command to verify that the IFILEAUDIT subsystem is not active.

Installation Instructions

To install a iFileAudit upgrade from media received from Kisco Information Systems, please do the following:

  1. Make sure that no users are logged into any of the menus in the iFileAudit system.
  2. Sign on to your System i from a PC that is configured for iSeries Access. You must sign on using the special IBM-supplied user profile QSECOFR or any user profile that is set up with type *SECOFR. Make sure that your session is the only one that is signed on under the user profile being used during this process.

Note: If you install using a user profile other than QSECOFR, your user profile will automatically be enrolled as an administrative user for iFileAudit. If you do not want administrative rights to the software, you can remove this registration once the software has been installed.

  3. Check the following system values. They should be set as indicated here. If they are not, note the current settings then change them to these settings:
    QALWOBJRST - *ALL
QVFYOBJRST - value 3 or lower
    QFRCCVNRST - value 0
  4. iFileAudit will install in the system Auxiliary Storage Pool (ASP) by default. Some customers may want to install the software in an alternate ASP. If you want to use an ASP other than #1, run the following command at this time:
    CHGDTAARA DTAARA(*LDA (1 7)) VALUE('n ')

Where n is the number of the ASP you want to use. Do not use this command if you want to use the default system ASP.

  5. Place the installation CD in your system and key the following command:
    LODRUN DEV(xxxx)

where xxxx is the name of your CD drive.

  6. During installation, iFileAudit does the following:
    • Saves the old iFileAudit program library in library FILAUDOLD in a save file named SAVF
    • History information and settings are transferred to the newly installed library.
    • Transfers your permanent install license code to the new version.
    • Additional documentation is printed which covers topics that have been added or changed since the user documentation manual was last printed.
    • Preserves your configuration settings and registered files from the current installed version.
  7. When the command finishes, the iFileAudit Master Menu will be displayed.
  8. If you changed any system values at step #4, reset them back to their original values now.
  9. Go to the INSTALL menu in library FILAUD and run option #3. Check the installation status shown at the center of the screen to make sure that it still shows that the software is permanently installed. If you see any other status, contact Kisco Information Systems as the software will not function correctly until this is corrected.
  10. If you have already configured and used the web-enabled brower access capabilities, you must now run the following command from the command line before you can continue to use the brower interface:
    CALL PGM(FILAUD/WWWINSTAL)

You can delete the library named FILAUDOLD created during the installation after you are certain that the new release is working to your satisfaction.
