Object Compression Manager II (OCM II)Last Updated: July 20, 1998 Object Compression Manager II (OCM II) from Kisco Information Systems helps you control disk space .... and at only $300 it is very affordable! OCM II is available for a FREE TRIAL on your system. You can either download your trial or place an order from here. OCM II is Year-2000 Compliant. Object compression can significantly reduce the amount of disk space needed to store programs, help text panels, menus, display files and printer files. OCM II activates IBM's compression for all qualified objects. Compressed objects that are needed during normal system use are automatically decompressed "on-the-fly" by OS/400.
Your results will vary depending on how your system is used. OCM II enforces recompression of decompressed objects. While normal compression will reduce disk storage requirements, IBM does not provide for recompression of objects that are decompressed during normal use. OCM II allows you to schedule for regular recompression of these objects. This technique retains disk savings from compression. OCM II also includes reports that analyze the savings from object compression and point you to places where additional compression can be realized. If you're system is really in need of disk space, check the special offer when you purchase Object Compression Manager II and SQUASH together.
