SpoolMover/400 is a system utility for your IBM i5-iSeries-AS/400 (iSeries in this documentation) system. It lets you to take reports from your print spool and send them to any other iSeries system anywhere in the world using the Internet. SpoolMover/400 is implemented so that you do not have to have any programming installed at the remote system where the report will be placed.

Using SpoolMover/400, users within an organization can:

• Route reports to printer resources on different systems.

• Move reports between partitions in an LPAR environment.

• Run a system without a printer and send reports to nearby systems with printer resources.

• Send reports to distant locations via the Internet.

• Send a set of reports to a remote site in a single operation.

• Automatically route a report to a remote system based on routing instructions entered into SpoolMover/400's routing control table.

SpoolMover/400 will process any report from the i5-iSeries-AS/400 print spool. These include IPDS, AFP, PCL and character-based reports.

SpoolMover/400 sends reports using the OS/400 File Transport Protocol (FTP) communications tool. Reports can be sent to any i5-iSeries-AS/400 worldwide without a requirement for any special software or hardware at the remote site. You only need to have SpoolMover/400 installed on the system that is sending the reports. When a report is sent to a remote site, it includes the necessary software for restoring the report. This software is run once and then removed from the remote site.
