SQUASH for AS/400 - Compression Rates
Last Updated: May 28, 1996
SQUASH Test Results
We ran a series of benchmark tests with SQUASH using a variety of common source files that are
typical of most AS/400 installations. In each test, Level 1 compression shows the results of
simple source member compression; the members are compressed and left as separate members
within the source file. Level 2 shows the combined results when using member compression
combined with the SQUASH on-line archive function; the members are compressed and then
transferred into the SQUASH on-line archive to achieve additional compression savings.
