WebReport/400 Release Upgrade Installation

Kisco Information Systems recommends that you print this web page and use it as a check list while installing your WebReport/400 software upgrade from the CD that you have received. The CD includes the software plus the latest software documentation. The "Manuals" folder in the CD contains the latest documentation in PDF format.

If you experience a problem during this upgrade process, please refer to our recovery procedure. Contact Kisco Information System for support if this happens.

To install a WebReport/400 upgrade from media received from Kisco Information Systems, please do the following:

  1. End any Message Monitoring jobs that may be active on your system.

  2. End the WebReport/400 Automatic Routing job (option #16 on the MASTER menu).

  3. End the routing subsystem using the following command:
    ENDSBS EREPORT *IMMED
  4. Verify that the subsystem and routing jobs are ended.

  5. Make sure that no users are logged into any of the menus in the WebReport/400 system.

  6. Sign on using the QSECOFR id.

  7. Check the following system values. They should be set as indicated here. If they are not, note the current settings then change them to these settings:
    QALWOBJRST - *ALL
QVFYOBJRST - value 3 or lower
    QFRCCVNRST - value 1
  8. If you are upgrading to WebReport/400 Release 9 from an earlier release level, create the new special user profile, WEBREPTUSR, using the following command:
    CRTUSRPRF USRPRF(WEBREPTUSR) PASSWORD(*NONE) PWDEXP(*NO) USRCLS(*SECOFR) ASTLVL(*SYSVAL)
INLMNU(WEBREPORT/MASTER) TEXT('WebReport/400 Ownership User - DO NOT DELETE')
Note: This profile will now be the owner of all objects in the WebReport/400 application library. Using this exact command will result in a user profile that cannot be used for logon purposes since no password has been assigned.

  9. Use the WRKDIRE command on your system and create an entry (option #1 on the first line) for user WEBREPTU. The Address field should be set to your system name. When the full screen is displayed, specify the user profile WEBREPTUSR and then take all of the default entries. This new profile must be enrolled in the system directory before you load this new version.

  10. Place the installation CD in your system and key the following command:
    LODRUN DEV(xxxx)
where xxxx is the name of your CD drive.

  11. During installation, WebReport/400 does the following:

    • Saves the old WebReport/400 program library in library WEBREPOLD in a save file named SAVF
    • History information and settings are transferred to the newly installed library.
    • Transfers your permanent install license code to the new version.
    • Additional documentation is printed which covers topics that have been added or changed since the user documentation manual was last printed.
    • Preserves your configuration settings from the current installed version.

  12. When the command finishes, the WebReport/400 Master Menu will be displayed.

  13. If you changed any system values at step #7, reset them back to their original values now.

You can delete the library named WEBREPOLD created during the installation after you are certain that the new release is working to your satisfaction.

If you have WebReport/400 PDF installed, the new installation will be for the PDF version. If you have WebReport/400 Basic installed, it will be active following the install. If you want to upgrade to the PDF version at this time, contact Kisco Information Systems for instructions and upgrade charges.
