Internet Install Instructions

To install WebReport/400 on your system from the WRINST.EXE file you downloaded, please follow these exact instructions:

  1. Sign on to your AS/400 from a PC that is configured for Client Access. You must sign on using the special IBM-supplied user profile QSECOFR.

  2. If you already have WebReport/400 installed and you are now installing an upgrade, make sure the WebReport/400 Automatic Router is stopped and then rename the current WebReport/400 library from WEBREPORT to WEBREPTOLD.

  3. Run the following command:

    CRTFLR FLR(KISRMT)

  4. Run the following command:

    CRTPF FILE(QGPL/WRINSTALL) RCDLEN(80)

  5. From your PC, create a folder on your desktop named TEMP and move the WRINST.EXE file into it.

  6. Open the TEMP folder and click on the WRINST.EXE file. This is a self-extracting compressed file that contains the components needed to install WebReport/400 on your AS/400. When the self-extracting process starts, click on the "Browse" button and locate the TEMP folder you just created, it should be at the bottom of the list. Click on it once so that the folder looks like it is open and then click on OK. Then click on the Unzip button. The files needed will now be placed in your TEMP folder.

  7. From your desktop, click on the AS/400 Operations Navigator. When it opens, all operations here will take place on the right side of the display box. Click on the following sequence of items displayed:
    • Your AS/400 location
    • File Systems (Note: if this does not appear, you will have to install additional Client Access functions on your PC to complete this procedure.)
    • Integrated File System
    • QDLS
    • Kisrmt
Now drag and drop the files from the TEMP folder on your PC desktop into the right-hand box of the Operations Navigator display. This will transfer these files into the AS/400 shared folder environment.

  8. Now go back to the AS/400 command line and run the following command:

    CPYFRMPCD FROMFLR(KISRMT) TOFILE(QGPL/WRINSTALL)
    FROMDOC(INSTALL)

  9. Also from the AS/400 command line, run the following command:

    SBMDBJOB FILE(QGPL/WRINSTALL)

Note: This command requires that the IBM supplied user profile QPGMR be an active entry in your system directory. If you are unsure about the status of your directory, use the WRKDIRE command (WRKDIR for V3R1 installations) to verify that it contains an entry for QPGMR.

  10. At this point, a job will be loaded into your system jobque called WRINST. When the job starts running from the jobque, the following message will be sent to the QSECOFR user profile:

    "Starting WebReport/400 install"

and when this step completed, the following message will also be sent to the QSECOFR user profile:

    "Initial WebReport/400 install processing now
    complete"

  11. When you receive this message, type the following command on the AS/400 command line:

    GO WEBREPORT/INSTALL

  12. When the INSTALL menu is displayed, type menu option #1 to complete the installation process. When this command is finished, WebReport/400 will be installed on your system for your FREE 30 DAY TRIAL.

During the final install processing (step #11 above), a document called "Additional Documentation Topics" will print. This includes the latest system changes and documentation since the last time the user manual was updated.

When you have completed your evaluation of WebReport/400, you may purchase a permanent installation copy by contacting us and arranging payment.
