The following series of browser displays shows how you can setup and control network security on your IBM i server (Power/i, iSeries, AS/400) using SafeNet/i and our new Web-Central browser based administration tool. After installing SafeNet/i, an additional installation process is needed to create and configure the necessary components for a new Apache server instance on your system. Then, when you start the Web-Central application, the following Welcome Center page be displayed in your browser:
From this Welcome Center panel, you can get a quick overview of the status of SafeNet/i running on your system. Color coding on this page will highlight where potential problems may lie, report on the license status of your system and much more.
Using options on the left hand panel gets you access into all of the tools needed to administer SafeNet/i on your system. For example, selecting the "Server Settings" link will bring up the following page that lists all of the exit points covered by SafeNet/i on your system along with their current settings:
From this page, you can review how each exit point is set and also make changes to the settings. These changes are made in real time on your system. You can control the level of security checking for the exit point, how logging is handled, the future setting (during testing and setup) and whether or not SafeNet/i time of day controls will be applied to the point.
Using the "Quick View" link on the left panel will bring up a list of all user profiles currently registered to SafeNet/i along with a quick overview of what security rules have been set up for the user:
Note that the Web-Central uses hover text to help you understand what each function on the page can do for you.
On this page, you can see a complete list of all user profiles that have been set up in SafeNet/i with security access rules. Each check to the right of the user profile represents a set of access rules that can be administered with just a single click.
For example, if you select to see how object level access is configured for a specific user profile, the following page will be shown:
Additional options allow you to control SQL verbs used, FTP commands allowed, source IP addresses for both FTP and Telnet connections and much more.
You can also review Transaction History by selecting the "Transaction Log" link in the left hand panel. It will be displayed list this.
To drill down and find specific transactions, you can just use the various filter fields at the top of the page.
The SafeNet/i Web-Central administration tool is available for all SafeNet/i customers using the Basic software level or higher.
