October 16 2024, Ridgefield CT – Kisco Systems is pleased to announce a new award for its Richard C. Loeber Fellowship for Careers in IBM i. Nick Richer of Spangler Candy is an early-stage IT professional who is passionate about technology and learning.
Nicholas Richer is a Programmer Analyst at Spangler Candy Company, where he designs, develops, and maintains business-critical applications. His fascination with technology began early—at just ten years old, he worked as a camera operator for his father’s community television broadcasts. Today, he is a Programmer Analyst leading efforts to modernize Spangler’s IBM i system, driving automation, and laying the groundwork for the company’s next generation of innovation.
Growing up in Bryan, a small town in Northwest Ohio, Nicholas always envisioned a career in technology. His curiosity, drive, and determination led him to pursue dual bachelor’s degrees in Computer Science and Emerging Technologies in Business and Design at Miami University. There, he built the reasoning skills and problem-solving instincts that allow him to simplify complex systems and make technology more accessible to others.
Since joining Spangler Candy, Nicholas has been recognized for his ability to dive into legacy systems and deliver impactful solutions. One of his most notable achievements has been the integration of an API enabling network communications with the company’s first automated shipping warehouse. Colleagues praise his inquisitive nature, collaborative spirit, and dedication to continuous improvement.
Nick will receive free IBM i and RPG training from imPower Technologies, along with a one-year COMMON membership and attendance at POWERUp next spring.
“I’m so pleased to welcome Nick to our fellowship program,” says Justin Loeber of Kisco Systems. “It was an easy selection for our committee. Nick is young man who is clearly motivated and has those unique characteristics that are the hallmark of a great career.”
